Girard College is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable individual for the position of Assistant High School Football Coach. The successful candidate will support the Head Coach in all aspects of the football program and demonstrate a strong commitment to student-athlete development, teamwork, and sportsmanship in alignment with the mission of Girard College.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist the Head Coach in all aspects of the high school football program

Support the planning and implementation of in-season and off-season training, conditioning, and strength programs

Help foster academic achievement, character development, discipline, and accountability among student-athletes

Assist with organizing and conducting tryouts, practices, and games

Work with specific position groups as assigned by the Head Coach

Promote and uphold a program culture aligned with the values and expectations of Girard College
-
Ensure compliance with all school policies and league regulations

Communicate effectively with players, coaching staff, and administration
-
Assist with equipment management, uniforms, and inventory
-
Support athlete health and safety by following care plans and maintaining First Aid/CPR/AED certifications

Assist with team transportation logistics as needed

Attend Athletic Department meetings as scheduled
Community Engagement & Program Support:

Serve as a positive representative of Girard College and its athletic programs

Support recruitment efforts by identifying prospective student-athletes when appropriate

Build relationships with middle school programs and local youth football organizations
-
Assist with football camps, clinics, and community engagement events
Required Skills:

Strong understanding of football fundamentals, rules, and strategies

Ability to teach, motivate, and mentor student-athletes

Clear and consistent communication skills

Demonstrated teamwork, leadership, and professionalism

Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and work in various weather conditions
Time Commitment:
In-Season:
-
Practices: Monday–Friday, 2–3 hours/day

Attendance at all scheduled home and away games

Season Length: Approximately 10–12 weeks (including playoffs)

Weekend availability required
Off-Season:
-
Assist with workouts, conditioning programs, and player development activities with approval

Support football camps and clinics
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree preferred
-
Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of coaching experience at the high school, collegiate, or youth level
-
Must complete PIAA coaching education requirements at time of hire

Strong interpersonal and communication skills
-
Commitment to working with student-athletes, administration, faculty, and staff
-
Must pass all required background checks and hold a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
