Position Overview We are seeking a sophisticated and entrepreneurial International Trade Attorney to join a nationally recognized legal team. This is a unique opportunity for a driven professional to play a pivotal role in advising global clients on the complexities of international trade, investment, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities
Customs and Import Compliance: Advise global corporations, manufacturers, and trade associations on complex U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CVP) regulations. This includes handling tariff classifications, valuations, product markings, country-of-origin determinations, and forced labor compliance enforcement.
Trade Litigation: Defend client business interests in high-stakes contested matters, including challenging regulatory actions and tariff implementation before the U.S. Court of International Trade and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Export Controls and Economic Sanctions: Navigate complex compliance and licensing under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctions programs.
Foreign Investment: Advise clients on regulatory requirements for U.S. investment and shepherd foreign investors through the CFIUS review process.
Trade Policy and Remedies: Advise on market access, preferential trade programs (USMCA, CAFTA, etc.), Section 301/232 tariffs, anti-dumping/countervailing duties (AD/CVD), and regulatory investigations.
Regulatory Defense: Represent clients before federal regulators regarding investigations, protests, voluntary disclosures, and settlements.
Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Active bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction (IL, OH, PA, DC, or FL).
Extensive experience in international trade law with a focus on regulatory strategy, compliance updates, and trade litigation.
Strong written advocacy skills with experience briefing or litigating before trade courts.
Cross-border fluency, international background, or multi-language capabilities are highly valued.
Strong entrepreneurial mindset.
