Job Overview – Bilingual K-3 Teacher (STEAM Model)
We are seeking a passionate, innovative, and dedicated Bilingual K-3 Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality instruction in both English and Spanish, using a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) approach that inspires creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and problem-solving. This educator will create engaging, hands-on learning experiences while fostering the academic, social, emotional, and personal growth of students in Kindergarten through Third Grade.
The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to student-centered instruction, differentiated learning, and positive classroom culture. A valid Puerto Rico Teacher Certificate (Licencia de Maestro vigente emitida por el Departamento de Educación de Puerto Rico) is required.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality instruction in English and Spanish aligned with the school's bilingual education model.
- Develop and implement engaging, standards-based lesson plans aligned with the Puerto Rico Academic Standards and the school's STEAM curriculum.
- Integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) into daily instruction through project-based and inquiry-based learning experiences.
- Promote bilingualism, biliteracy, and cross-cultural understanding in the classroom.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment that encourages collaboration, creativity, innovation, and respect.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the academic, linguistic, social, emotional, and developmental needs of all students.
- Assess student learning using formative and summative assessments and utilize data to drive instructional decisions.
- Incorporate educational technology and digital learning tools to enhance student engagement and achievement.
- Collaborate with administrators, instructional coaches, specialists, and colleagues to strengthen curriculum implementation and student success.
- Maintain ongoing communication with parents and guardians through conferences, progress reports, and regular updates in both English and Spanish, as appropriate.
- Integrate literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, technology, engineering, visual and performing arts, physical education, and library/media resources into interdisciplinary learning experiences.
- Support students requiring interventions or specialized accommodations by implementing appropriate instructional strategies and collaborating with support personnel.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, academic performance, behavior, and assessment data in accordance with school policies and educational regulations.
- Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, school events, and continuous improvement initiatives that support the school's mission and bilingual STEAM philosophy.
Qualifications & Skills
- Valid Puerto Rico Teacher Certificate (Licencia de Maestro vigente) issued by the Puerto Rico Department of Education required.
- Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Fluency in both English and Spanish (spoken and written) required.
- Demonstrated experience teaching students in Kindergarten through Third Grade.
- Strong knowledge of bilingual instructional strategies and language development.
- Experience implementing STEAM education, project-based learning (PBL), inquiry-based instruction, and interdisciplinary teaching is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of early childhood development and elementary instructional best practices.
- Ability to integrate technology effectively into classroom instruction.
- Excellent classroom management skills that promote a positive, engaging, and student-centered learning environment.
- Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to establish positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Experience working with diverse learners, including English language learners (ELLs) and students with exceptionalities, is preferred.
