ield Security & Communications Technician
Pay: $30/hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 40 hours/week
On-Call: Required after training
Job Overview
We are hiring a Field Security & Communications Technician to support oil & gas operations. This is a hands-on, field-based role working on active well sites installing and maintaining security and communication systems. If you have experience with low-voltage, networking, CCTV systems, wireless communications, and satellite internet systems and enjoy working in the field, this is a great opportunity.
What You’ll Do
- Install and maintain CCTV cameras and access control systems
- Set up and troubleshoot radios, wireless networks, and data systems
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot routers, switches, Wi-Fi access points, Wi-Fi panels, and related networking equipment
- Identify, test, and optimize wireless signal strength, bandwidth availability, and network performance
- Install, configure, and support Starlink satellite internet systems and related communication equipment
- Run and terminate low-voltage cabling (fiber & Ethernet)
- Move and reinstall equipment as sites change
- Diagnose and repair system issues in the field
- Work with operations and IT teams to ensure systems function properly
- Respond to after-hours calls (on-call rotation)
What We’re Looking For
- 2+ years of experience in low-voltage, security systems, field communications, or network infrastructure installation
- Must have experience installing and troubleshooting routers, switches, Wi-Fi access points/panels, and wireless communication equipment
- Experience identifying and troubleshooting bandwidth, signal strength, and connectivity issues
- Experience with Starlink installation, configuration, and support preferred
- Basic networking knowledge (IP addresses, routers, switches)
- Experience with fiber is a plus
- Ability to read diagrams and site plans
- Valid driver’s license (clean record)
Work Environment
- Outdoor work on active oil & gas sites
- Physically demanding (lifting 50+ lbs, climbing, working at heights)
- Travel between job sites required
