Position Title: Professional Tutor of Writing and Learning Strategies
Reports To: Director of Learning Services Services
Department: Learning Services
Employment Status: Part-time, 15-18 hours/week
Position Summary: Provide comprehensive writing and learning strategy support to a diverse student population with varied academic needs.
- Assist students across the disciplines throughout all levels of the research and writing process

Assist students in identifying their individual strengths and skills to make study plans, establish academic goals, and maximize the student's potential

Collaborate with Success Advisors and as a team member of the Student Success Center (SSC)
- Facilitate academic skill building workshops, presentations, and classroom visits
- Maintain accurate tutoring notes and progress using university software

Work with students in person and through online platforms

Guide graduate students towards developing a professional written voice with formal language

Participate in outreach activities to promote tutoring services and resources

Assist in the maintenance and evaluation of tutoring materials, surveys, and services

Perform other duties, responsibilities, or special projects as assigned
Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor of Arts degree in English, Writing or Humanities
- Experience with tutoring via on-line delivery/distance learning strongly preferred

Demonstrated commitment to promoting inclusiveness and cultural competence; experience working with underrepresented students and students from at-risk backgrounds

Experience and understanding of current issues and developments in higher education

Outstanding verbal, writing, and presentation skills; must be able to communicate and interact effectively with Mount Mary students, employees, and alumnae

Exceptional ability to multitask and prioritize projects
