American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN with Urology/Nephrology expertise and an active IL RN license for a 13-week assignment at a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated hospital.

Work on a 25-bed Medical Surgical unit specializing in Urology/Nephrology with an average daily census of 23
-
Day shift schedule (3x12 hours), 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
-
Required to work every other weekend
-
No on-call responsibilities
-
Floating required to other Medical Surgical units within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities
-
Patient ratio of 1:6
-
Cerner charting system used, experience required
-
Active Illinois RN license required in hand at time of application
-
Current BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted, RQI cards not accepted)
-
Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience required
-
Cerner EMR experience required
-
Prior charge nurse experience required
-
Experience with MS/Tele and Med/Surg work settings required
-
Skilled in pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
-
Proficient in blood product administration, central line blood draws, peripheral and PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
-
Experience administering Heparin
-
Skilled in chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, and portable oxygen tank use
-
Knowledgeable in isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac management

Experience with telemetry remote monitoring and rapid response/code team protocols

Teaching hospital and Level I trauma center experience preferred
-
Kidney transplant and Urology/Nephrology experience preferred

Provide direct patient care to a Urology/Nephrology Medical Surgical population in a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital with 562 staffed beds

First-time travelers are welcome to apply if they have a solid foundation in Med/Surg nursing

Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction

Previous permanent or PRN employees of the hospital system must be separated for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler

Requested time off is ideally limited to 5 days or fewer

Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays

Any solid color scrubs are acceptable
