Position Summary
The Electrician is responsible for the installation,maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems across thefacility. This role supports continuous, safe, and compliant operations withina pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, ensuring all work is performed inaccordance with site procedures, regulatory requirements, and industrystandards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventive maintenance (PM), corrective maintenance, and emergency repairs on electrical systems
Troubleshoot and repair:
Electrical distribution systems
Panels, breakers, and transformers
Motors, VFDs, and control circuits
Lighting systems and emergency power systems
Support operation and maintenance of critical systems, including:
Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS)
Backup generators (interface and support)
Building automation system (BAS) interfaces (as applicable)
Interpret and work from electrical drawings, schematics, and one-line diagrams.
Perform lockout/tagout (LOTO) in accordance with site safety procedures.
Ensure compliance with:
NFPA 70 (NEC)
NFPA 70E (Electrical Safety)
OSHA requirements
Site GMP and safety standards
Utilize CMMS systems (e.g., Maximo) to:
Document work performed
Record labor hours accurately
Close out work orders with complete details
Support project work, shutdowns, and equipment installations as needed.
Coordinate with other trades (HVAC, general maintenance, vender coordination) to support cross-functional work.
Participate in on-call rotation and respond to off-hours issues when required.
Maintain tools, test equipment, and work areas in a safe and orderly condition.
Perform other duties as assigned to support facility operations, team objectives, and site reliability.
Safety & Compliance Expectations
Adhere strictly to all site safety protocols and permit requirements.
Perform work in classified or controlled environments following gowning and contamination control procedures.
Identify and report safety risks, near misses, and equipment deficiencies.
Participate in daily safety meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent experience preferred.
Minimum 5+ years of industrial or commercial electrical maintenance experience.
Strong working knowledge of:
Low-voltage electrical systems (480V and below)
Electrical troubleshooting and controls
Preventive maintenance practices
Electrical safety standards (NFPA 70E)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in industrial pharmaceutical, biotech, or GMP-regulated environments.
Familiarity with CMMS systems (Maximo preferred).
Experience with:
PLCs and basic controls troubleshooting
BAS systems
Critical utilities and infrastructure
Arc flash qualification/training.
Skills & Competencies
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Clear and accurate documentation skills.
Team-oriented with strong communication skills.
Detail-oriented with a focus on compliance and safety.
Working Conditions
Work in operational manufacturing and utility environments.
May require lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.
Use of required PPE, including arc flash protection.
Participation in on-call rotation required.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 poundsindependently; heavier loads may be lifted with team assistance or mechanicalsupport.
