Function: The Director of Adult Day Services is responsible for the supervision and overall functioning of all day service programs. The Director of Adult Day Services will develop ongoing programs and activities related to skills development and community integration for the individuals. The Director of Adult Day Services will also be responsible for product development and quality assurance of all contract work, and developing age-appropriate activities and opportunities for all individuals. The Director will have ultimate responsibility for ensuring that all staff are trained on quality control methods and operational procedures and will ensure that the program is in compliance with all federal, state, and local guidelines. Marketing the programs and services of the Day Program is a key element of this position. The Director must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Job Duties:
- Networks with families and business/industry leaders to develop ongoing work opportunities and community integration networks for the individuals served.
- Network with families to ensure satisfaction with services received.
- Ensures facilities and programs are run efficiently and professionally.
- Develop ongoing programs and activities that are geared towards increasing/improving the vocational skills of individuals served, adult skills development, and community integration.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate activities and opportunities for the senior population so that service recipients are engaged in meaningful work activity.
- Negotiate contracts with potential business customers.
- Conduct commensurate wage analyses as needed.
- Provide in-service training for all staff to ensure compliance with established quality control methods.
- Follow SCDDSN guidelines, directives and standards. Operates programs in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Title 29 CFR, Part 525, and all applicable DOL, state and federal regulations regarding sheltered workshops and commensurate wages.
- Monitors the progress of people receiving services, completes progress notes for individuals attending the Day Program to Service Coordination by the end of each month.
- Follow established agency procedures and guidelines when hiring new employees.
- Provide supervision, feedback and administrative support to assigned employees and· discipline when necessary according to established agency policies and procedures.
- Schedule staff meetings when necessary to update staff and address any issues or concerns.
- Complete performance evaluations for new staff at least annually; tum in to Human Resources.
- Review time, leave requests and scheduling for all staff, ensure accuracy and completeness by established deadlines, making sure that overtime is kept at a minimum.
- Perform all necessary supervisory functions to effectively and efficiently manage subordinates by:
o Maintaining a qualified team of employees
o Communicating areas of accountability and performance expectations
o Determining standards of performance as a basis to review progress
o Confirming that all training needed to perform assigned tasks is completed prior to the beginning work.
o Ensuring that staff delivers consistent quality care
- Coordinates, develops and supervises the day service component of each consumer's annual treatment plan. Ensures the safety and accountability of each program participant.
- Ensures that assessments are completed within 30 days of entry into the service and annually thereafter prior to a day service planning meeting.
- Ensures that programs function well, independently and together with minimal disruption.
- Directs ancillary support programs to include: Consumer Self Advocacy Organization and Consumer Family Annual Facility Review Panel.
- Responsible for the review of and filing of Monthly Data Recording Sheets, and assessments, Plans, and other documents, for legibility, completeness, signature and date, and informing supervisors of incomplete or missing documents
- Ensures Attendance logs are completed and DSAL is approved according to guidelines.
- Ensure that fire drills are conducted timely (Monthly).
- Approve requisitions, injury/illness reports and vehicle/facility maintenance sheets are completed as needed.
- Contract Compliance Reviews show scores of 90% or above. All facilities and programs remain licensed and in good standing with the appropriate authority.
- Coordinates and leads intake meetings, providing explanation of services, procedures,and forms presented, and ensures that all initial documentation required for entry is signed and dated
- Manages a system of inspections to ensure regular maintenance and correction of deficiencies.
- Ensures a safe and healthy environment for service recipients as well as the staff.
- Shares progress documentation and coordinates with Behavior Support providers, therapists, Case management, residential services and all relevant parties to assure data collection for other issues for the persons receiving services is accurately maintained.
- As a member of the DCDSNB Executive Team, assists with agency duties and meets with the team on a regular basis to assist in the coordination and oversight of the activities of the agency.
- Provides agency training as a member of the training team. Performs administrative on-call on a rotating basis.
- Maintain a favorable working relationship with all other agency employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate which will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity, and efficiency/effectiveness.
- Promote agency activities; represent the agency in community endeavors.
- Assists with other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a Human Services related field or business, supplemented by 3-5 years of experience in programs and management for people with disabilities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Exhibits great skill, competence in the field of disabilities and management. Must have knowledge in providing support for people with disabilities. Knowledge in developing treatment plans and ensuring their implementation. Ability to relate to individuals and families of diverse socio-economic backgrounds and races. Knowledge of business and industry job components and application procedures. Ability to develop and maintain communications with the business/industrial community. Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize work schedules. Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Ability to keep accurate, written records. Must be objective and flexible in both attitude and work schedules. Ability to acts with a high degree of professionalism and creates an environment where staff can succeed.
