Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry with precision and professionalism
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly using aseptic techniques
- Take and develop X-ray images while adhering to HIPAA regulations and infection control standards to ensure patient safety and confidentiality
- Manage patient records efficiently using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, including updating medical history, vital signs, and medical documentation
- Provide chairside assistance with four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize workflow and patient comfort
- Educate patients on oral health practices and post-treatment care while demonstrating excellent dental terminology knowledge
- Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing medical records with accuracy
Skills
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, taking X-rays, and maintaining aseptic technique
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control protocols, and medical imaging procedures
- Experience with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; familiarity with Epic or similar platforms is a plus
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of medical records and documentation
- Ability to perform vital signs measurement and assist with pediatric dentistry procedures confidently
- Familiarity with 3D scanners used in advanced diagnostics and treatment planning for prosthodontics or orthodontics
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members including dental receptionists and other healthcare professionals
