Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately, ensuring timely communication of any changes to nursing staff.
- Support patients with medication reminders and basic medical procedures under supervision, adhering strictly to HIPAA regulations and aseptic techniques.
- Maintain detailed medical documentation within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or other memory impairments, fostering a safe and supportive environment.
- Assist with patient transfers, positioning, and mobility using appropriate equipment like Hoyer lifts and ensuring patient safety at all times.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in settings such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, or home care environments to deliver comprehensive patient service.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in accordance with state requirements.
- Prior experience working in healthcare environments such as hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home care is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support procedures.
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations including seniors, individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs.
- Familiarity with infection control practices such as aseptic technique and handling infectious diseases is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills combined with a compassionate approach to patient care and caregiving responsibilities.
