Erudite Academy is an education company specializing in North American curriculum tutoring, AP courses, academic writing, standardized test preparation, and enrichment programs for middle and high school students.
We are looking for a part-time AP History teacher who can teach AP U.S. History and/or AP World History to high school students in an online setting. The ideal candidate should have strong subject knowledge, a clear understanding of the AP exam format, and the ability to help students develop historical thinking, document analysis, and essay-writing skills.
This position is suitable for experienced teachers or tutors who can explain historical content clearly, guide students through AP-style questions, and help students improve their performance on SAQ, LEQ, and DBQ writing.
Responsibilities
- Teach AP U.S. History and/or AP World History in one-on-one or small-group online classes.
- Help students understand key historical periods, themes, events, and developments.
- Teach historical thinking skills, including causation, comparison, continuity and change, contextualization, and evidence-based analysis.
- Guide students through AP-style writing, including SAQ, LEQ, and DBQ responses.
- Provide clear feedback on student writing and help students improve structure, evidence use, and argument development.
- Design or adapt lessons based on student level, course progress, and AP exam goals.
- Track student progress and provide learning updates when needed.
- Help students prepare for quizzes, school exams, and the AP exam.
Required Qualifications
- Prior teaching or tutoring experience in AP U.S. History, AP World History, or advanced high school history courses.
- Strong understanding of the AP History curriculum and exam expectations.
- Ability to teach document analysis, historical argumentation, and AP essay writing.
- Excellent English communication skills.
- Reliable, organized, and comfortable teaching online.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in History, Education, Political Science, Social Studies, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current or former classroom teacher.
- AP Reader experience, AP workshop experience, or direct AP exam-prep experience.
- Experience teaching students from U.S. private schools, public schools, or international schools.
- Ability to teach both AP U.S. History and AP World History.
- Experience helping students improve DBQ and LEQ writing.
