Job Summary
We're looking for someone who:
- understands residential construction
- can confidently read architectural plans
- has experience with takeoffs/estimating
- is extremely detail-oriented
- can work independently from home
- communicates clearly and meets deadlines
Experience with residential remodels, additions, custom homes, or high-end residential construction is a major plus.
You don't necessarily need to have been a career estimator — strong residential construction experience + the ability to read plans and learn our estimating system could be a great fit. This position has the potential to go to full-time and transition into sales on site for projects, as well.
Responsibilities
- Review and interpret construction blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine material requirements and project scope.
- Utilize estimating software such as Bluebeam and Google Sheets, and other construction management tools to prepare detailed cost estimates.
- Conduct material cost estimating by analyzing blueprints and reviewing construction drawings to identify necessary materials and quantities.
- Manage project budgets by developing accurate estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Negotiate with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards.
- Interpret technical drawings accurately to facilitate effective communication between design teams and field crews.
Experience
- Experience as a construction estimator within the residential or commercial construction industry.
- Efficiency in estimating software such as Bluebeam or similar tools, preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of blueprint reading, construction drawing review, and interpreting technical specifications.
- Demonstrated ability in cost management including material cost estimating, pricing strategies, and budget estimation for construction projects.
- Hands-on experience with construction site activities or understanding of construction site operations is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel spreadsheets for data analysis and reporting purposes.
Pay: $50.00 per hour
