Do you love baking, creating beautiful desserts, and making people smile? The Cookie Jar is looking for a dependable, hardworking Bakery Assistant to help create delicious homemade treats while providing outstanding customer service.
Position Summary
As a Bakery Assistant, you'll play an important role in the daily operations of our bakery. From baking fresh desserts and decorating sweet treats to assisting customers and representing The Cookie Jar at community events, you'll help ensure every customer experiences the quality and hospitality we're known for.
Primary Responsibilities
- Bake cookies, cakes, pies, and other bakery products according to recipes and quality standards.
- Prepare frostings, fillings, glazes, and other bakery ingredients.
- Decorate baked goods as directed.
- Serve customers through our walk-up service window with friendly, professional customer service.
- Package bakery items for carryout, gifts, and special orders.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary bakery in accordance with food safety standards.
- Wash dishes, utensils, baking equipment, and workstations.
- Stock ingredients, packaging supplies, beverages, and retail products.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate items that need to be reordered.
- Assist with grocery shopping and supply runs as needed.
- Help set up, work, and tear down bakery booths at festivals, markets, and special events.
- Assist with local marketing efforts by creating attractive product displays, handing out samples, posting signage, and promoting new menu items.
- Help prepare customer orders for pickup and delivery.
- Deliver bakery products to customers or event locations as assigned.
- Follow opening and closing procedures.
- Work collaboratively with the team to maintain a positive, efficient work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the bakery.

- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

- Reliable transportation.
- Weekend and holiday availability preferred.
- Previous bakery, restaurant, retail, or food service experience is a plus, but we are willing to train the right person.
