Job Summary
We are seeking skilled and detail-oriented Tool and Die Makers/Machinists to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, maintaining, and repairing precision tools, dies, molds, and fixtures used in high-volume production processes. Your expertise will ensure the production of high-quality components by setting up and operating various machining equipment with accuracy and efficiency. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced CAD/CAM software and precision measurement tools to support manufacturing excellence.
Duties
- Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to develop tooling solutions aligned with project specifications.
- Set up and operate CNC machining centers including CNC lathes, milling machines, grinders, and electrical discharge machines (EDM) to produce precise tooling components.
- Program CNC machines using CAD (Computer-Aided Design), CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing), and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards to ensure accurate machining processes.
- Fabricate tooling parts through manual machining techniques using hand tools, calipers, micrometers, micrometers, grinders, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Perform maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting on tooling equipment to minimize downtime and uphold quality standards.
- Conduct quality control inspections utilizing precision measurement instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify dimensional accuracy.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to develop prototypes or modify existing tooling designs using SolidWorks or AutoCAD software.
- Maintain detailed documentation of machining processes, measurements, and inspection results for compliance and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Tool and Die Maker or Machinist within a manufacturing environment; shop toolroom experience preferred.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD for designing tooling components.
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming for milling machines, lathes, EDM machines, and other CNC equipment.
- Ability to interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately.
- Skilled in manual machining techniques including milling, turning on lathe machines, grinding, welding, and assembly of tooling components.
- Familiarity with GD&T principles for precise measurement and quality control in machining processes.
- Mechanical knowledge of plastics injection molding processes is a plus.
- Experience working with measurement tools like calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and other precision instruments.
- Understanding of shop math necessary for accurate calculations related to machining setups and tolerances.
- Knowledge of electrical discharge machining (EDM), milling machines, grinders, and other advanced manufacturing equipment.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and schematics related to machinery maintenance or repair is advantageous.
