Job Summary
The Construction Material Delivery Driver transports construction materials (like lumber, pipe and fittings, concrete, and small tools and equipment) from warehouses or suppliers to active job sites. They are responsible for loading and unloading cargo, safely navigating trucks or flatbeds, ensuring on-time delivery, and coordinating with on-site supervisors.
Key Responsibilities
· Transport & Navigation: Safely drive company vehicles (ranging from non-CDL pickup trucks to heavy flatbeds) to and from construction sites.
· Loading & Unloading: Manually lift and move heavy materials or operate heavy equipment like forklifts, excavators, wheel loaders, and truck-mounted cranes.
· Quality & Verification: Verify load accuracy against delivery tickets or Bills of Lading and inspect goods for damage before leaving the yard.
· Site Communication: Coordinate with project supervisors and site leads regarding specific drop-off locations and delivery times.
· Safety Compliance: Adhere to DOT, OSHA, and company safety standards, including maintaining accurate daily driver logs.
Required Qualifications
· License & Record: Valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record. (A Commercial Driver’s License - CDL A or B - is preferred).
· Physical Stamina: Ability to frequently lift and carry heavy items (typically 50 to 100 lbs.) and endure outdoor construction site environments.
· Knowledge: Familiarity with basic construction materials, terminology, and tools.
· Documentation: Basic math, measurement skills, and ability to read route maps or GPS navigation in developing neighborhoods.
· Proficiency in software and Microsoft Office Suite
· Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Work Environment
· Drivers generally split their time between driving and working on active, often uneven, job sites.
· Frequent interaction with contractors, builders, and warehouse staff, requiring strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
· May require starting early in the morning to align with construction crews, working flexible hours during busy seasons, or being available for occasional after-hours support.
