Part-Time Direct Support – Evenings & Weekends
Seeking a reliable, caring person to provide home and community-based daily living supports to a woman with an intellectual disability and mental health needs.
This is an especially good fit for someone who is outgoing, community-oriented, and likes to stay busy—someone who naturally enjoys getting out, doing things, and helping another person stay active and engaged.
Responsibilities include behavioral support, personal care, community activities, and household tasks—including cleaning the litter box, so you must love cats!
This position is part of a 24/7 support team, although staff generally work independently during their shifts. Applicants must be comfortable responding appropriately to both behavioral and medical situations. Medical needs include a history of seizures, which are currently well controlled, and staff are trained in how to respond should one occur.
She can also experience periods of significant behavioral dysregulation. At times, behaviors may include yelling, hitting, grabbing, or throwing objects. While she is a small-statured adult, applicants need to be comfortable with the possibility of physical behaviors and able to remain calm, use good judgment, follow established behavioral support strategies, and not take challenging behavior personally.
Requirements:
- Reliable and self-motivated
- Comfortable working independently
- Able to remain calm and use good judgment in behavioral or medical situations
- Comfortable providing personal care and behavioral support
- Willing to learn and follow individualized behavioral and medical support plans
- Personal vehicle, clean driving record, and proof of auto insurance
- Must love cats
Schedule: Part-time only. Mostly evenings and weekends, with limited daytime hours available for the right person.
College students are encouraged to apply. This can be a great fit for a responsible, active person looking for meaningful part-time work.
Pay: $23.00 per hour
