Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Metal Fabrication Estimator to join our team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for accurately assessing project costs, preparing detailed estimates, and collaborating closely with clients, vendors, and project managers to ensure successful project execution. Responsibilities
- Review drawings and technical specifications to accurately interpret material requirements and project scope.
- Prepare comprehensive bids by calculating material costs, labor hours and subcontractor expenses.
- Manage project budgets by monitoring costs throughout the estimating process and adjusting estimates as necessary to maintain profitability.
- Collaborate with clients to negotiate pricing terms, clarify project details, and ensure alignment with project goals.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to obtain accurate pricing on materials like steel, aluminum, or other metals used in fabrication.
- Assist in managing contracts and ensuring all estimating activities comply with company policies and industry standards.
- Support project management teams by providing detailed cost analysis and contributing to effective cost control strategies on ongoing projects.
- Conduct site visits when necessary to gather on-the-ground information that influences accurate estimation and planning.
Skills
- Strong negotiation skills for obtaining favorable prices from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Extensive knowledge of managing fabrication projects as an estimator within the steel fabrication industry.
- Skilled in interpreting technical drawings.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel spreadsheets for data analysis and cost tracking.
- Ability to review drawings thoroughly and estimate material requirements precisely from blueprints.
- Expertise in cost management, including material cost estimating, budget estimation, and cost control techniques.
- Excellent client communication skills to present estimates clearly and negotiate effectively with stakeholders.
