Responsibilities
- Install fiber optic cables, Ethernet wiring, telephony systems, and low voltage cabling to establish robust network connections.
- Perform fiber splicing and network installation tasks with precision to ensure optimal performance.
- Set up and configure Cisco routers, switches, and other networking equipment according to specifications.
- Conduct field service activities including troubleshooting, diagnosing issues, and repairing network components on-site.
- Use hand tools such as wire strippers, crimpers, and ohmmeters to complete installations and repairs efficiently.
- Apply mechanical knowledge to mount equipment securely and manage cable management for neatness and safety.
- Follow safety protocols related to telecommunication work environments and electrical systems during all tasks.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a service technician or field installer within telecommunications or networking industries.
- Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts including Ethernet, telephony systems, and low voltage wiring.
- Skilled in fiber splicing techniques with the ability to handle delicate optical fibers accurately.
- Familiarity with Cisco routers, switches, and basic network configuration.
- Hands-on experience with cabling installation, mechanical mounting, and electrical troubleshooting.
- Ability to operate hand tools effectively and safely in various field environments.
