Overview
Hudson Valley Swim is an established, high-end swim school looking for experienced, *reliable* and dedicated members of our team in Newburgh & Middletown. Candidates must demonstrate excellent teaching technique, commitment, promptness, responsiveness, organization, and have people skills. If the candidate has a good administrative background, there may be options for additional hours in the office and community.
WSI certification is preferred however we will consider extensive teaching experience above everything else. You will co-teach with one of our senior instructors until you are proficient with our program prior to "owning" your own schedule. Candidates may have been a competitive swimmer in their past but is not a requirement.
Overall, we teach infants, children, teens and adults so experience with all ages is preferred. We prefer if candidates also had experience that includes special needs and possibly competitive swimmers.
Candidates should be skilled to perform the following:
Responsibilities
- Conduct swimming lessons tailored to individual student needs, focusing on water safety, technique, and confidence building
- Adhere to lesson plans that incorporate proper swim techniques and safety protocols
- Monitor students closely during lessons to ensure safety at all times
- Manage behavior effectively to maintain a positive and productive learning environment
- Provide clear instructions and constructive feedback to help students improve their swimming skills
- Take attendance and grade each student's skills for each class using our phone application
- Organize equipment neatly on the pool deck between classes.
- Engage students through fun and motivating activities such as relay races, water games, or skill challenges
Requirements
- Experience teaching swim lessons and working with students of diverse ages and skill levels
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques to foster a safe and respectful environment
- Ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills and patience when working with children and students with special needs
- Certification in CPR/AED and First Aid
- Passion for teaching swimming and promoting water safety awareness
- Candidates MUST be able to work weekday afternoons/evenings (approx 3:00-8:00) as well as a weekend morning/afternoon (approx 9:00-4:00). Other shifts may be available as well as other locations.
Pay: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour
