Responsibilities
- Safely operate box trucks and other commercial vehicles such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks to transport freight across assigned routes
- Load and unload cargo efficiently using appropriate equipment like forklifts when necessary
- Plan and follow optimal delivery routes to ensure timely arrivals while adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to identify maintenance needs or safety issues
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, route documentation, and delivery receipts for all shipments
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and customers to coordinate deliveries and resolve issues promptly
- Assist with securing freight on trucks to prevent shifting or damage during transit
Skills
- Proven experience driving box trucks or similar commercial vehicles with a strong focus on safety and efficiency
- Familiarity with operating various truck types including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks
- Ability to load and unload freight using manual methods or forklifts when required
- Knowledge of route planning, traffic regulations, and safety protocols for commercial driving
- Experience with manual transmission vehicles is a plus
- Strong physical stamina for loading/unloading cargo and long hours on the road
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and customers
