Thrive Acupuncture & Wellness in Rapid City SD is seeking a skilled and compassionate Acupuncturist and Herbalist who is looking for a supportive and professional work environment. This is a full-time, permanent employee position (w2) with benefits and plenty of room to grow.

You like having someone else run the business side of things! You genuinely enjoy this work. You have graduated from an accredited school with an MAC, MATCM or DCAOM, and are certified by the NCCAOM. Ideally, you are bright and pick things up quickly!
Who are we?
We are a busy, cash and VA-based practice in Rapid City, SD on the edge of the beautiful Black Hills. We’ve got excellent community standing due to our deep commitment to patient care and results, and have a wide network that extends into the neighboring states. We know how to speak to the patients that need our services, and are able to easefully fill Associates’ schedules. Our team practices specific skills together to keep the healthy qi flowing so that working together is a reflection of the good qi we cultivate with patients. We have systems in place that hold the flow so we are able to help a lot of patients in a way that is sustainable and regenerative.
Position Details: We are looking for a part-time or full-time Associate Acupuncturist to join our team. Hours range from 15-30 hours / week. At full-time capacity, we would expect you to see 40-50 patients per week during 3 to 4 days of 6 to 8 hour shifts. The timing of the shifts can be flexible, and the days per week can be flexible, however Saturday mornings from at least 9-1 is a required shift to cover.
We are a general clinic, and we treat everything from pain, to women’s health, to digestion, autoimmune disease, allergies, anxiety, depression, and provide support to patients in cancer treatments, etc. We focus on root-cause, creating long-term relationships with our patients and supporting them in their health throughout their lives. We do not follow the "fix-it" mentality, though we do absolutely help solve the chief complaints our patients come in with, but rather collaborate with our patients to cultivate health on all levels. We treat some children with non-needle techniques, but our primary focus is on adults of all ages. We also do provide Cosmetic acupuncture services and Microneedling. We are passionate about Chinese herbs and have an extensive granular and raw pharmacy.
We would love someone who has an interest in women’s health, reproductive health and infertility, digestion, and is phenomenal at treating acute and chronic pain. We treat using Five Element Acupuncture, TCM and channel theory, classical CM & 8 extras, and some general Tung & Tan. We are generally speaking not a trigger point or sports medicine clinic and our approach is about getting to the root of the problem. We also utilize Chinese herbal medicine, and have a large granular and raw pharmacy as well as a solid collection of patent formulas. We use gentle needling, good communication and a collaborative approach with our patients.
Full Time (over 24 hours/week): Pay is commission based for a full-time person, at $38-$114/hour, plus 25% commission on herbs, supplements and topicals. Full time employees are eligible for paid time off, sick pay, dental benefits, continuing education reimbursement and partial reimbursement for their malpractice insurance. A full time employee working 3-4 shifts per week and seeing 40-50 patients per week could easily make over $75k per year, with plenty of time in the week for a good work/life balance.
Pacing and Team Culture Our flow is intentional and focused. We see two to three people per hour, and train you on systems so that you can give great treatments and NOT go home drained. We want you to make a GREAT living with us, doing what you love. If seeing more than one person per hour sounds overwhelming or exhausting to you, this is probably not a good fit. If you are a person who likes to flow at a quicker pace and enjoys it, while giving great care, this would be a good fit for you.
This position does require some meeting times (about 1 hour a week), and the willingness to be coached in specific areas. Location Rapid City, SD is a great town to live and work in. With a metro population of around 150,000 people, it has a small town feel with some city amenities. The culture of the town is a blend between Midwest hospitality and Western rugged individualism. It is a very “purple” town, and we work with people who lie across the political and social continuum. Overall people have not lost their manners in this part of the country, and they respect individual rights and perspectives. This is an earth element country, and the people and their kindness reflect it! The cost of living is still reasonable, and the pace is calm. We are a 5-6 hour drive away from Sioux Falls, SD, Billings MT and Denver CO and 20-30 minutes from amazing National and State Parks and the Black Hills National Forest. If you’re an outdoor enthusiast, there are plenty of opportunities for getting out into nature: hiking & rock climbing, water sports & boating, hunting & fishing etcetera! We moved here four and half years ago to raise our children, and it’s a very family friendly area. Quality of life: 10/10. People: 10/10.
