Title: Special Education Team Leader

Qualifications:
-
Master’s degree in psychology, behavioral science, or special education
-
Board Certified Behavior Analyst strongly preferred
-
Minimum of three years’ experience supervising special education programs
-
In depth knowledge of IEP team process and state and federal regulations

Must have mobility required to sufficiently assist students with disabilities with physical needs, personal care, and behavioral challenges. Must possess the ability to lift, push, pull and/or carry up to 40 pounds on occasional basis and have the ability to move quickly from standing to floor and floor to stand without the use of hands. May be required to physically restrain parties in situations where there is a risk of serious and imminent harm.

RESPONSIBILITIES
IEP Team Supervisor:
-
Act as liaison between home, school and district
-
Lead classroom clinical meetings with school based team. Assign and/or conduct staff meetings to develop IEPs
-
Review, monitor and meet timelines for IEPs, referrals, and re-evaluation
-
Supervise classroom team's implementation of IEPs and BSPs
-
Collaborate with parents, districts and school staff regarding instructional decision-making for students.
-
Lead assigned IEP team meetings and coordinate corresponding documents to send to district and parents
-
Participate in professional learning activities and plans/delivers professional learning activities to staff, parents, and others to increase achievement for students with disabilities.

Ensure compliance with state and federal requirements
Casebooks and Data

Review Individual Student Schedules
-
Review casebooks & provide assistance for program development and implementation as needed
-
Work directly in the classroom to support quality in-person classroom instruction and its improvement in all settings through monitoring, observing, model teaching and coaching
-
Assist teachers in improving classroom management and climate through the implementation of effective instructional methods.
-
Provide training to develop staff competency as needed
-
Supervise RBTs as needed
Behavior
-
Complete Initial FBA and Behavioral Review as needed
-
Collaborate with Teacher to develop Behavior Support Plan
-
Evaluate and provide consultation in regard to effective reinforcement
-
Collaborate with Teacher to develop systems for incidental data collection
-
Provide training to develop staff competency as needed
-
Provide support and consultation to families as needed
-
Respond to and provide direct intervention and behavioral support to the student, teacher, classroom, and learning community
-
Evaluate need for extended time outs and ensure documentation is completed.
-
Provide ongoing consultation on development, implementation and monitoring of behavior support plans and effective academic programs based on systematic and research supported teaching procedures
-
Monitor the restrictiveness of interventions and monitor data trends relating to challenging behaviors targeted for reduction and parental notification process
-
Review incident reports for accuracy and completion and ensure compliance with restraint regulations
-
Review and analyze data for patterns and provide recommendations for reduction in use of time out and /or restraint at weekly/monthly review meetings
Administrative:
-
Support school mission and vision
-
Assist in developing a culture that encourages lifelong learning, reflective practice and collaboration
-
Provide coaching and support to teachers in supervision of paraprofessionals
-
Lead team discussions in data analysis and makes recommendations for data driven practices
-
Collaborate with principal, curriculum coordinator and other consultants to implement school objectives and provide support for teachers to improve instructional practices
-
Assess professional development needs for individual teachers and/or departments
-
Recommend resources, assessments and technology for purchase for teacher and student use
-
Review IEP’s and quarterly progress reports
-
Perform other tasks/responsibilities as assigned by the principal
Employment is contingent upon passing a SAFIS fingerprint and CORI screening.
