We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, providing excellent customer service at the front desk
- Schedule patient appointments using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Open Dental
- Verify insurance coverage, process claims, and handle billing procedures including medical collection efforts
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently while adhering to HIPAA confidentiality policies
- Review and update medical records accurately, ensuring compliance with documentation review standards and coding requirements.
- Assist with insurance verification, authorization requests, and coordination of care plans
- Answer multi-line phone systems promptly with professional phone etiquette; direct calls appropriately
- Maintain office organization through filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and managing electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems) such as Open Dental
- Support clinical staff by handling administrative tasks related to medical office management and scheduling appointments
- Ensure compliance with health information management standards and assist in the review of medical documentation for accuracy
Experience
- Prior experience working in a medical or dental office environment is highly preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Open Dental is essential
- Strong knowledge of health insurance processes including verification, Medicare procedures, and insurance billing practices
- Familiarity with medical coding.
- Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and office management software like Open Dental
- Proven ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced clinical setting while maintaining attention to detail
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Experience with hospital or clinic operations along with dental terminology or dental clinic experience is advantageous
