Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing excellent customer service at all times
- Manage appointment scheduling using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance authorization and verification procedures
- Collect and process medical collections, billing information, and payments accurately
- Maintain and update patient records in various EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems including Athenahealth and Dentrix
- Assist with intake procedures, including gathering medical history and updating documentation review processes
- Handle multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, directing calls efficiently
- Organize and file medical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality
- Perform office management duties such as filing, data entry, and managing clinic supplies
- Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office administrative role with clinic or dental experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and Medicare processes
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix or Eaglesoft is highly desirable
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel) and typing skills (10 key typing)
- Ability to verify insurance benefits accurately and perform insurance verification procedures
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure compliance with patient privacy standards
- Bilingual a must to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and medical billing processes
- Strong communication skills with professional phone etiquette and customer service orientation
- Office experience in a healthcare setting or dental clinic environment is highly valued.
