General Summary: The Medical Assistant (MA) provides quality patient care services to the patients of ENT Specialists of Austin (ENTSA) under the direction of physicians and practice management. ENTSA medical assistants support the goals and the objectives of the practice as well as performing a range of administrative and clinical tasks.
Essential Responsibilities: The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting with patient care, supporting physicians with procedures, coordinating care in accordance with the care plan and working collectively with all practice staff. The MA will also be responsible for maintaining accurate medical records and ensuring that patients receive the highest level of care possible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for rendering professional clinical care to patients
- Provide clinical support for physicians during examinations and procedures
- Coordinate diagnostic tests and imaging
- Provide patient education on procedures, follow-ups and medication instructions
- Perform clinical triage duties
- Give allergy injections and coordinate allergy care
- Address patient inquiries with respect to medical questions and provide instruction within the limits of medical knowledge
- Verify and document patient information, review and record medical history and confirm purpose of visit or treatment
- Return patient phone calls and document in the medical record in accordance with practice procedure and policies
- Maintain patient medical records in accordance with practice procedures
- Ensure exam rooms, equipment and supplies are ready for patients
- Ensure that all medical equipment is clean, sanitized, and working correctly
- Assist in prescription management including prescription refills
- Appropriately handle sensitive information and maintain patient confidentiality
- Assist with patient flow and communicate delays to patients and physicians
- Follow infection control protocols, practice policies and procedures
- Adhere to regulations and policies related to HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, and other relevant standards
- Participate in team meetings and cross-training provided which may include practice functions related to clinical triage, allergy services and audiology services
- Perform other duties as assigned
