Summary:
Maximize Sports Medicine Clinic efficiency by supporting clinical team with clinical care and coordinating care with other providers. Provide sport-specific education and communication with appropriate individuals including, but not limited to community athletic trainers and coaches to improve patient satisfaction and return to sport. Occasionally participate in scheduled community events to provide education or advertise sports medicine services.
Responsibilities:

Assist physical therapist in provision of rehabilitation services in outpatient rehab setting; including: functional testing for athletic and active patient populations, administering therapeutic exercise programs, and administering functional training and return to sports conditioning for athletic injuries.

Plan and implement a comprehensive athletic injury and illness prevention program.

Conduct an initial assessment of an athlete's injury or illness and formulate an impression of the injury or illness in order to provide emergency or continued care and referral to a physician for definitive diagnosis and treatment, if appropriate.

Coordinate, plan, and implement a comprehensive rehabilitation program for athletic injuries.

Provide health care information to and counsel athletes.

Conduct research and provide instruction on subject matter related to athletic training or sports medicine.

Coordination of Care for Clinic patients with internal and external resources including therapists, orthotics, ortho technologists, community athletic trainers and internal multi-disciplinary partners.

Provide clinical services to patients as ordered by a physician - such as provide education on injury / medical plan / return to sport, facilitate computerized neuropsychological testing, provide home exercise program education, provide off-the-shelf brace fitting.

Facilitate patient flow through clinic - escorting patients through clinic process, answering questions.

Ability to meet physical and non-physical demands as outlined in the job description is an essential function of the job.

Answer and return phone calls, greeting patients and other customer care.

Participate in community outreach events as an athletic trainer or program representative.

Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
How You’ll Be Successful:
WORK EXPERIENCE

At least 1 year job related experience preferred
-
Clinical training required for Athletic Trainer Certification required
EDUCATION
-
Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Degree in Health Education, Kinesiology, basic science or similar degree and training required
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

NATABOC certification upon hire preferred

Athletic Trainer – State of Texas Athletic Trainer license upon hire required

Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements required
