Job Overview:
The Survey Rodman assists the survey crew in the field by operating and maintaining survey equipment, clearing lines of sight, and performing basic measurements to support pipeline construction projects.
Responsibilities:**
- Operate and maintain surveying equipment such as GPS, total stations, and levels under the direction of a Survey Party Chief.
- Clear brush, trees, and other obstructions to establish clear lines of sight for survey instruments.
- Drive stakes, pins, and other markers into the ground to denote survey points and alignments.
- Measure distances using tape measures, stadia rods, and other instruments.
- Carry and transport survey equipment, tools, and supplies to and from job sites.
- Assist with the setup and teardown of survey equipment.
- Read and interpret survey stakes and basic construction plans.
- Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with the survey crew and other project personnel.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support survey operations.
Qualifications:**
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a construction or outdoor work environment preferred.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Willingness to travel and work extended hours as needed.
- Strong work ethic and commitment to safety.
