Permitting Specialist I supports the Engineering and PMO teams by preparing, submitting, and tracking basic permits required for FTTH/OSP projects. This role focuses on learning permitting workflows, assembling standard permit packages, and maintaining accurate records under close supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and submit basic permitting documents (ROW, traffic control, small utility permits, simple aerial/underground requests).

Maintain internal permitting logs, databases, and status reports.

Track submittals and follow up with permitting agencies as directed.

Assist Engineers and Drafters by assembling permit-ready drawings and supporting documents.

Ensure documents meet minimum formatting and submission standards.

Retrieve permit comments and route them to the appropriate engineering team member.

Maintain digital filing systems for permit correspondence and approvals.

Assist with basic communication to municipalities, utilities, or agencies (email inquiries, drop-off requests, etc.).
Skills & Qualifications:

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and in vehicle, with long periods working on a computer.

Manual dexterity required to operate a computer keyboard, calculator, and other office equipment

Occasional lifting and carrying of files, documents, or office supplies weighing up to 15 pounds.
- This role can be based either in Jonesburg or Platte City. This is not a remote role—it is an in-office position in one of those locations.

Occasional travel is required - typically be between the two offices and may involve several days or a week at a time. Per diem and travel expenses are paid when working away from the home office.
