Job Overview
We're seeking a reliable and safety-focused Forklift Operator to join our log yard team at Southern Fabrication & Welding. In this hands-on role, you'll play a key part in our efficient operations by maintaining smooth shipping and receiving operations while ensuring safety and accuracy in all tasks.
Duties
- Operate various types of heavy equipment including forklifts, clamp trucks, order pickers, and pallet jacks to load and unload materials
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment to ensure mechanical safety and proper functioning
- Follow OSHA guidelines and safety procedures at all times to prevent accidents or injuries
- Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to coordinate material flow and optimize storage solutions
- Perform basic maintenance on equipment when necessary and report any malfunctions promptly
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating forklifts, cranes, clamp trucks, or other heavy equipment in a warehouse or construction setting
- Strong knowledge of warehouse distribution processes, shipping & receiving procedures, and materials handling techniques
- Valid certification for forklift operation; additional certifications such as crane or clamp truck operation are a plus
- Warehouse or construction experience is highly desirable for this role
