Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, including dry vans, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, and specialized equipment such as tanker or dump trucks.
- Load and unload freight efficiently using appropriate equipment like forklifts or roll-off trucks when necessary.
- Plan and execute route driving to meet delivery schedules while adhering to all safety regulations and traffic laws.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips to ensure optimal performance and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, mileage, cargo details, and delivery documentation in compliance with federal regulations.
- Communicate proactively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delays, or issues during transit.
- Manage all aspects of freight handling, including securing loads on flatbeds or refrigerated trailers as required.
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements suitable for tractor-trailer operation.
- Proven experience in truck driving, including delivery route driving and freight handling.
- Skilled in operating manual transmission vehicles and specialized equipment such as forklifts or dump trucks.
- Experience with various trailer types including dry vans, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tankers, or roll-off trucks is highly desirable.
- Ability to load & unload freight safely and efficiently using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to freight transport and vehicle maintenance.
- Strong communication skills for coordinating with dispatchers and clients.
