Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor patients’ health status by observing vital signs, patient behavior, and overall condition
- Support medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure privacy and safety
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption when necessary
- Operate patient transfer equipment such as Hoyer lifts safely to support mobility and prevent injury
- Maintain detailed documentation of patient care activities, observations, and updates in compliance with healthcare standards
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance clients’ mental well-being and social engagement
Requirements
- Prior experience working as a Personal Care Assistant or in a similar caregiving role, preferably with group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health settings
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and ability to recognize changes in condition or behavior
- Familiarity with care procedures for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, autism spectrum disorder, developmental disabilities, or neurodevelopmental disorders
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting and patient transfers using proper techniques and equipment
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is highly preferred; ongoing training is encouraged
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and collaboration with healthcare teams
- Ability to adhere to HIPAA regulations ensuring client confidentiality at all times
- Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation for assisting clients with personal transportation needs
