Position Summary:
Gallmar Industries is looking for a full-time 1st shift Quality Technician/CMM Programmer. This position is responsible for performing first-piece, in-process, PPAP, and final inspections, developing and maintaining Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) programs, supporting calibration activities, and assisting with quality investigations. The ideal candidate will have strong metrology knowledge, experience with PC-DMIS programming, and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements.
Essential Functions:
- Perform first-piece, in-process, PPAP, and final inspections in accordance with engineering drawings, customer specifications, and quality requirements.
- Utilize precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, bore gages, optical comparators, and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs).
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, and customer specifications to verify product compliance.
- Develop, optimize, validate, and maintain CMM programs using PC-DMIS metrology software.
- Conduct Gage R&R studies and capability studies as assigned.
- Assist with the calibration and maintenance of precision measuring instruments and CMM equipment.
- Support containment activities and investigations related to non-conforming materials and products.
- Collaborate with manufacturing personnel to troubleshoot dimensional and functional issues.
- Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality records.
- Promote and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to quality systems and manufacturing processes.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Proficiency in the use of precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, bore gages, optical comparators, and CMMs.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T requirements.
- Completion of Hexagon CMM 101 training.
- Minimum of one (1) year of hands-on PC-DMIS programming experience.
- Experience in operating and programming Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Dependable, adaptable, and motivated with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Strong documentation, follow-up, organizational, and time management skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior quality experience in a manufacturing environment or similar industry preferred.
- Experience working in an ISO 9001:2015 certified environment.
- Experience operating hoists and cranes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience working with CAD models and engineering data.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Quality or a related field
- Knowledge of Fox Valley Metrology’s calibration portal
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, and use hands to handle or operate tools, equipment, and machinery
- Ability to sit at a workstation or desk for extended periods when performing programming or documentation tasks
- Must be able to lift and/or move materials weighing up to approximately 50 pounds
- Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Frequent exposure to a manufacturing environment, including moving machinery, noise, metal components, oils, and coolants
- Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary
