Position Overview
The Distribution Manager at our Belton, MO facility will take direct ownership of daily warehouse operations, inventory accuracy, and facility readiness. This hands-on leadership role bridges floor execution and transportation logistics—ensuring freight is properly staged, loads meet quality standards, drivers are supported, and equipment remains operational. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, enforces strict safety standards, and ensures our high-accuracy benchmarks are consistently met.
Core Responsibilities
Freight Staging & Load Quality
- Direct and oversee all warehouse loading and unloading activities to ensure maximum space utilization and zero freight damage.
- Supervise freight staging processes, verifying that orders match dispatch manifests, customer specs, and labeling requirements prior to departure.
- Enforce rigorous load-quality controls, securing cargo correctly to maintain high-accuracy delivery standards.
Dispatch Coordination & Driver Support
- Partner closely with central dispatch to coordinate local driver scheduling, staging order timelines, and dock availability.
- Assist inbound and outbound drivers with quick turnarounds, shipping/receiving documentation, dock assignments, and issue resolution.
- Maintain clear communication channels between facility floor ops and regional dispatch logistics.
Inventory Organization & Control
- Manage facility layout, rack management, and floor organization to optimize workflow and material handling efficiency.
- Oversee cycle counts, inventory audits, and stock movements to guarantee real-time inventory tracking and accuracy.
- Implement structured bin-location strategies and standardized operational routines on the warehouse floor.
Equipment Readiness & Facility Operations
- Monitor facility equipment readiness, including forklifts, material handling systems, dock doors, and yard equipment.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance, safety inspections, and repair schedules to prevent operational downtime.
- Maintain facility cleanliness, physical security, and strict OSHA/safety policy adherence across the building.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in warehouse management, freight distribution, or logistics leadership roles.
- Core Competencies: Demonstrated track record in freight staging, load auditing, driver scheduling support, inventory control systems, and warehouse safety management.
- Technical Skills: Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, and digital dispatch/fleet tracking tools.
- Equipment Knowledge: Hands-on operational knowledge and safety oversight for material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, dock loading hardware).
- Leadership & Communication: Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage dock workers, coordinate with drivers, and communicate effectively with corporate operations.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to move around the warehouse floor, work in varied temperatures typical of a distribution center, and handle the physical demands of dock environment management.
Pay: $62,400.00 - $65,000.00 per year
