Delaware County Solid Waste Authority (DCSWA) is seeking a full-time Mechanic to add to their team at the Rolling Hills Landfill in Boyertown, PA. This is a hands-on, team-based position with plenty of room to learn and develop your skills. This person will conduct repairs and diagnosis of light duty trucks along with equipment repairs, as needed. The ideal candidate will be willing to develop skills in heavy equipment maintenance.
This individual must have a personal comprehensive tool inventory to use in the shop and on site. Specialty items will be provided by DCSWA.

This is a day shift, full time position, with the possibility of OT. 7:00 am - 4:00 pm, M-F.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate proficiency in the repair and diagnosis of engines (gas and diesel), as well as power train, transmissions, clutches, drive shafts, PTOs and suspensions, electrical systems including starters and alternators, HVAC systems, steering systems, electronic systems, brake systems, etc.
- Perform all levels of preventative maintenance services on truck and trailer equipment.
- Be open and willing to learn how to perform maintenance services on heavy equipment, such as a compactors, track dozers, skid steers, hydraulic excavators, backhoe, lawn mowers, pickup trucks, etc.
- Operate and maintain the various types of equipment and vehicles used at all DCSWA facilities.
- Work closely with Mechanic, Lead Mechanic, and Operations Manager
- Assist with parts, equipment, and budget management for major equipment repairs
- Perform welding repairs on DCSWA equipment
- Coordinate repairs and services with outside vendors, such as warranty work, inspections, etc.
- Maintain work area appearance and safety, including using proper PPE, assisting with snow removal, and following DCSWA policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or acceptable equivalent
- Technical and/or Vocational Training in a relevant field. Equipment maintenance repair experience is a plus.
- Welding experience is also a plus!
- Valid PA Driver’s License
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Work is completed both indoors and outdoors. DCSWA provides uniforms and PPE.
- Exposure to weather extremes, exhaust fumes, chemical fumes, acid, oil, grease, high noise levels, and hazardous materials and equipment. Hazards may be reduced through the exercise of safety precautions.
- Occasionally lift, pull, drag and carry up to 150 lbs.
- Endure physical demands of the position, including climbing ladders, working at heights up to 60 feet, long periods of standing and walking, and repetitive arm and hand movements.
- Working in cramped areas and contorted positions as needed.
