Job Title: Product Engineer Engine System Cooling
Location: Auburn Hills, MI
Duration: 12 months contract (possibility of extension)
Job Description: The Product Engineer
- Engine System Cooling will design, develop, validate, and release cooling components.
- Components include cooling module assemblies (radiator, condenser, electric fan assembly), transmission oil coolers, high- and low-pressure hose and tube assemblies, electric coolant heaters, valves, and pumps.
- Components will be developed using best practices and methodologies such as CAE, System Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), and Design Validation Plans (DVP&R).
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Responsible for a set of cooling components potentially in all stages of vehicles development.
- Lead early packaging and development of components to meet cooling functional objectives.
- Coordinate CAE, design, prototyping and testing and the documentation of those activities.
- Cooperate with supplier to ensure design for manufacturability and track supplier progress to ensure part maturity and creation milestones are met.
- Support vehicle assembly and vehicle testing and resolve any issues discovered with the components.
- Address quality concerns and potential cost reductions after vehicle launch.
Must-Haves
- 3–5 years of experience in automotive product development, mechanical engineering, or a related engineering field
- Experience with engine cooling, thermal management, heat exchangers, coolant systems, HVAC systems, fluid systems, or related automotive cooling components
- Experience supporting components through the product development lifecycle, including design, development, validation, testing, and launch
- Experience with CAD software (CATIA, NX, Creo, SolidWorks, or similar)
- Knowledge of engineering validation and testing processes
- Experience conducting root cause analysis and resolving technical issues
- Ability to work cross-functionally with design, CAE, testing, manufacturing, and suppliers
- Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with radiators, condensers, fan assemblies, transmission oil coolers, coolant hoses/tubes, valves, pumps, or electric coolant heaters
- Experience with DFMEA, DVP&R, GD&T, and APQP
- Experience supporting vehicle testing and launch activities
- Experience working directly with suppliers and managing component development milestones
- Exposure to CAE analysis and thermal performance evaluations
- Bachelor's degree, Associate's degree, or technical degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field
Pay: $45.00 - $50.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
