THE EQUIPMENT
2022 Kenworth T880 with a PK 6500 knuckle boom and grapple saw technology. This rig is capable of taking trees down independently — no bucket truck, climber, or spider lift required on many jobs. We need an operator who can run it with full confidence and judgment, with or without ground support.
THE ROLE
This is a working position. When you are not on the crane you are with the crew on the ground as needed, transporting trucks and equipment to job sites, and doing whatever we have at hand to keep you busy. You will work alongside our Tree Crew Foreman, and on jobs where the crew is split into two teams, you will lead one of them.
You will also be our go-to for emergency response. Storm damage, downed trees, hazardous limbs over a roof or power line — these calls do not wait for business hours. It could be 1:00 AM on a Sunday. It could be a holiday afternoon. When the call comes in, you are required to be on call as needed and ready to respond. If you are not comfortable with that level of commitment, this is not the right role for you.
REQUIREMENTS
- CDL Class A — required
- Knuckle boom crane operating experience — required
- Direct tree service background required: climber, bucket truck operator, or tree crew foreman experience
- Comfort taking down trees using grapple saw technology, independent of bucket truck or climbing crew when the job allows
- Light mechanical skills — hose swaps, basic crane diagnostics, keeping the rig field-ready
- Strong judgment and decision-making in the field, especially on emergency calls
- Available for on-call emergency response, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Natural leader who the crew respects and follows
- Reliable and accountable every single day
ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT EXPERIENCE — BONUS POINTS
The more you can run, the busier you will be. Experience operating any of the following is a strong plus:
- Skid steer
- Excavator
- Mini skid steer
We have the equipment. If you can run it, we will put you to work on it.
COMPENSATION
$42–$52 per hour based on experience. We are looking for the right person and we will pay accordingly.
