Job Overview
American Language Academy is an Intensive English Program in Greensboro, NC, seeking a qualified ESL substitute teacher for in-person adult language classes. Please be prepared to teach all levels, from Introduction to College-ready (Levels 5 & 6), and five skills (Grammar, Writing, Listening, Reading & Speaking). The substitute teaching may be from several hours to several weeks at a time, depending on the need.
Responsibilities
- Deliver lesson plans provided by the regular classroom teacher or adapt to the needs of the class when necessary.
- Manage classroom behavior using effective behavior management techniques to foster a respectful and productive environment.
- Communicate effectively with students and staff to ensure clarity of expectations and progress updates.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom atmosphere conducive to learning for children of all backgrounds.
- Step in when we need you—for 1 day to several weeks depending on the situation.
Skills
- TESOL Certification, Bachelor's degree.
- Preferred: Master's degree in English, Linguistics, Education or a related field
- Experience with classroom management, behavior management.
- Excellent communication skills for mentoring students and collaborating with staff.
- Proven ability to adapt quickly to different classroom environments while maintaining professionalism and enthusiasm
Hours: Monday-Wednesday, 8am to 4:15pm (partial availability will be considered).
Salary commensurate with experience.
Pay: $27.00 - $35.00 per hour
