Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Forklift Operator to join our logistics and warehouse team. In this role, you will be responsible for efficiently and safely operating various types of heavy equipment, including forklifts, reach trucks, clamp trucks, and Hi-Lo forklifts, to facilitate the movement, loading, and unloading of materials within a warehouse distribution environment. Your expertise in materials handling and warehouse management will ensure smooth operations, accurate order picking, and timely shipping and receiving processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, experience with warehouse management systems, and a commitment to safety standards such as OSHA regulations.
Duties
- Operate forklifts, reach trucks, clamp trucks, pallet jacks, and Hi-Lo equipment to load and unload goods safely and efficiently.
- Perform order picking using various equipment while ensuring accuracy and adherence to warehouse procedures.
- Manage inventory movement within the warehouse using warehouse management systems to track materials accurately.
- Assist with shipping and receiving tasks by preparing shipments, verifying orders, and maintaining proper documentation.
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and perform basic repairs or notify maintenance for mechanical issues.
- Support warehouse distribution activities by organizing materials for storage or dispatch.
- Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to optimize space utilization and improve overall workflow.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards by following proper lifting techniques and safety protocols.
- Handle heavy lifting tasks with appropriate equipment to prevent damage or injury.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to promote safety and efficiency.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating forklifts, reach trucks, clamp trucks, Hi-Lo forklifts, or similar heavy equipment in a warehouse setting.
- Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and order picker operations.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic equipment repairs or troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations related to forklift operation and materials handling.
- Strong understanding of warehouse distribution processes including shipping & receiving.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations for inventory management and order accuracy.
- Prior experience in warehouse supervision or managing warehouse operations is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail combined with physical stamina for heavy lifting tasks.
- Valid certification for forklift operation is preferred but not mandatory if willing to obtain upon hire.
