Overview
Sylvan Learning Center is seeking a dynamic, results-driven Center Director to lead sales, operations, staff management, and customer experience while ensuring a high-quality educational environment for students and families.
This role is fully accountable for enrollment growth, parent engagement, financial performance, team leadership, and overall center success.
An active Virginia Teaching Certificate is required (or must be obtained within an agreed-upon timeframe).

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Operations
- Oversee daily operations of the center, ensuring efficiency and excellence
- Hire, train, coach, schedule, and evaluate center staff
- Manage teacher performance, staff scheduling, and labor efficiency
- Maintain a professional, organized, and welcoming learning environment
- Ensure compliance with Sylvan standards, student safety policies, and Virginia regulations
Sales & Enrollment Growth
- Own enrollment growth and lead the full sales cycle from inquiry to enrollment
- Conduct parent consultations, center tours, and enrollment conferences
- Review student assessments and present personalized learning plans to families
- Promote financing and payment options, and confidently close enrollments
- Ensure all phone calls, online inquiries, and walk-ins are handled promptly and professionally
- Meet or exceed monthly sales, revenue, and expense targets
Financial Management
- Track and manage center financial performance (P&L, collections, expenses)
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and drive continuous improvement
- Manage accounts receivable and ensure timely collections
Instructional & Parent Engagement
- Work with tutors to ensure strong instructional quality
- Support student assessment processes and progress tracking
- Conduct ongoing parent conferences and progress meetings
- Ensure exceptional customer experience and retention
Marketing & Community Outreach
- Develop and execute local marketing initiatives
- Conduct school visits and build relationships with local administrators and counselors
- Engage with community groups and parent organizations
- Support social media and digital marketing efforts to increase brand awareness
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Virginia Teaching Certificate required (or ability to obtain within an agreed-upon timeframe)
- Experience in educational leadership, administration, or supervision
- Minimum of three (3) years of customer service experience
- Sales, retail management, or business operations experience preferred
- Experience conducting parent consultations or educational conferences preferred
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
- Financial literacy and comfort managing P&L statements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort learning CRM, scheduling, and instructional systems
- Familiarity with social media and digital marketing tools preferred
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Prior experience with Sylvan Learning, Huntington Learning Center, C2 Education, Kumon, or Mathnasium is a strong plus
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
