JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision of the Community Services Assistant Director and Community Services Director, the Recreation Supervisor planning, organizing, coordinating, and supervising recreational programs, special events, athletic leagues, community activities, and the daily operations of assigned parks and recreation facilities. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPOSIBILITIES ∙Plan, organize, coordinate, and supervise recreational programs, youth and adult sports leagues, summer camps, and special community events. ∙Recruit, train, supervise, schedule, and evaluate recreation staff, seasonal employees, volunteer coaches and program instructors. ∙Coordinate and collect payments of facility reservations, field scheduling, and recreation and athletic registration fees. ∙Ensure parks, athletic fields, recreation center and related facilities are properly maintained and prepared for scheduled activities. ∙Develop recreation programs and athletic leagues schedules. ∙Develop promotional materials, and community outreach initiatives to increase participation. ∙Ensure compliance with city and departmental policies, safety regulations, and risk management procedures. ∙Respond professionally to citizen questions, concerns, and complaints regarding parks, facilities, recreation and athletic programs. ∙Maintain accurate records, reports, attendance, inventories, and program evaluations. ∙Coordinate with city departments, schools, community organizations, sponsors, and outside agencies to support programs and events. ∙Assist with emergency operations and city-wide events as assigned. ∙Performs all other duties as directed. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES ∙Knowledge of youth, adult athletic and recreation programming. ∙Knowledge of facility operations, maintenance practices, and safety procedures. ∙Ability to supervise, motivate, recruit and evaluate employees and volunteers. ∙Strong leadership, organizational and time management skills. ∙Excellent verbal and written skills. ∙Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, community organizations, and the public. ∙Proficiency in Recreation software. ∙Ability to resolve conflicts and make sound decisions under pressure. ∙Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours during special events The above duties describers the chief function of the job and is not considered detailed description of every duty of the job. or emergencies. ∙Ability to read a variety of policy and procedure manuals, technical manuals, equipment manuals etc.
