Data Physics is a dynamic engineering solutions provider specializing in measurement, testing, and vibration analysis across diverse industries worldwide. Our innovative products and expert services empower clients to achieve their complex testing and development goals with confidence and precision.
Overview
Data Physics has an immediate opening for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, production, and continuous improvement of advanced vibration test equipment.
Data Physics designs and manufactures electro-dynamic shakers, vibration test systems, and related electro-mechanical equipment for automotive, aerospace, defense, and commercial customers worldwide. Our products are used to simulate real-world vibration environments, including vehicle durability, aircraft operation, satellite launch conditions, and seismic events, enabling customers to validate product performance under demanding operating conditions.
This position is ideal for a hands-on engineer with 3-5 years of mechanical design and production experience. The successful candidate will be part of a collaborative engineering team and will contribute directly to the design and development of advanced industry-leading vibration test systems while improving existing designs and supporting the transition of designs into manufacturing.
This role provides the opportunity to work on highly specialized products that support some of the world's leading aerospace, defense, automotive, and commercial organizations.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems for electro-dynamic shaker and vibration testing equipment.
- Create and maintain 3D CAD models, detailed manufacturing drawings, and assembly drawings using SolidWorks.
- Perform engineering analyses including static, dynamic, modal, thermal, and fatigue calculations, finite element analysis (FEA), and design validation.
- Conduct the design and development of conceptual layouts and customer-facing technical drawings.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and production personnel to ensure designs are optimized for fabrication, assembly, quality, and cost.
- Provide hands-on production support, troubleshoot manufacturing and assembly issues, and implement corrective design improvements.
- Participate in prototype development, testing, and validation of new products and design enhancements.
- Review engineering drawings, bills of materials, and released documentation for accuracy and compliance with company standards.
- Support configuration management and engineering change processes throughout the product lifecycle.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to meet project schedules, performance requirements, and customer expectations.
- Assist with root-cause investigations and corrective actions related to product performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 3-5 years of mechanical design experience in a manufacturing environment.
