What You'll Do
As a Traveling Fire Door Replacement Technician, you'll help healthcare and commercial facilities maintain compliance with fire and life safety codes by installing and repairing fire-rated door assemblies.
Responsibilities include:
- Install, repair, and replace fire-rated doors and frames
- Install and adjust commercial door hardware including:
- Closers
- Locksets
- Latches
- Strike plates
- Hinges
- Other related hardware
- Perform repairs in accordance with:
- NFPA 80
- NFPA 105
- International Building Code (IBC)
- Manufacturer specifications
- Read and interpret Life Safety Plans (LSPs)
- Review work orders and project specifications
- Order and install replacement doors, frames, and hardware
- Troubleshoot installation challenges and identify solutions
- Document completed work and outstanding deficiencies
- Complete tablet-based reports and electronic documentation
- Maintain professional communication with customers and project teams
- Follow all safety, environmental, and infection-control requirements in healthcare facilities

- Travel throughout the United States

- Daily per diem while on assignment

- Projects typically range from several days to several weeks

Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in:
- Commercial doors
- Carpentry
- Construction
- Facilities maintenance
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Experience using hand and power tools
- Ability to read work orders and project documentation
- High attention to detail and quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Comfortable using tablets, smartphones, and Microsoft Office
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to travel nationwide 100% of the time
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must live within 50 miles of a major commercial or international airport
Preferred:
- Experience with fire-rated doors and assemblies
- Experience installing commercial door hardware
- Healthcare construction experience
- Familiarity with life safety codes and standards
- Experience reading Life Safety Plans (LSPs)
Physical Requirements:
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach throughout the workday
- Climb ladders and stairs
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Work extended hours, including evenings and weekends as needed
- Work safely in active healthcare and commercial environments
