Math Teaching Assistant “Aide”
Riviera Hall Lutheran School is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Math Teaching Assistant / Playground Supervisor to join our Christ-centered school community. Position Summary
The Math Teaching Assistant provides instructional support to students and teachers while fostering a safe, engaging, and Christ-centered learning environment. This position includes assisting with math instruction, supporting students with varying learning needs, reinforcing classroom expectations, and supervising students during recess, lunch, chapel, and other school activities.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesMath Instructional Support
- Reinforce classroom math lessons through guided practice, review, and individualized support.
- Assist students with foundational math concepts, including number sense, operations, fractions, decimals, percentages, pre-algebra, and Algebra I.
- Support differentiated instruction and learning accommodations under the direction of the classroom teacher and Learning Specialist.
- Help students complete assignments, homework, projects, organization, and study skills while encouraging academic independence.
- Provide intervention or enrichment opportunities for students needing additional math support.
- Assist the classroom teacher with grading assignments, quizzes, assessments, and classroom activities.
- Provide constructive feedback to students under teacher supervision.
- Enter grades into the school's grading system as assigned.
- Prepare instructional materials, math manipulatives, copies, games, assessments, and classroom resources.
- Support classroom routines, organization, behavior expectations, and positive classroom management.
- Encourage positive peer relationships and model Riviera Hall Lutheran School's core values of Love, Respect, and Responsibility.
- Support students' social-emotional growth through encouragement, patience, and positive reinforcement.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and academic progress.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal or classroom teacher.
Playground & Campus Supervision
- Actively supervise students during recess, lunch, chapel, and other school activities.
- Maintain visibility by circulating throughout assigned supervision areas.
- Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.
- Monitor student behavior and intervene promptly to prevent unsafe situations.
- Reinforce school expectations and playground rules.
- Assist students in resolving minor conflicts using positive behavior strategies.
- Ensure students remain within designated supervision areas.
- Document injuries requiring medical attention.
- Report serious behavioral concerns, bullying, or safety issues to the Principal.
- Respond promptly to student needs and provide appropriate assistance.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Strong math skills through Algebra I.
- Experience working with children ages 10–14 preferred.
- Ability to explain math concepts clearly and encourage student confidence.
- Strong communication, teamwork, organization, and classroom management skills.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
- Live Scan fingerprint clearance required.
- Pre-employment health screening and TB clearance required.
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
