Dispatch Border Services is seeking an experienced Heavy Forklift Operator to join our Laredo operation. This position requires experience operating large-capacity forklifts up to approximately 35,000 lbs and handling heavy, oversized, and industrial freight.
This is not an entry-level forklift position. Candidates should have previous experience safely loading and unloading heavy materials from flatbeds, trailers, and other transportation equipment.
Responsibilities
- Operate a 35,000-lb-capacity forklift safely and efficiently
- Load and unload flatbed and specialized trailers
- Handle heavy and oversized freight, including:
- Steel coils
- Steel plates
- Railroad parts and components
- Industrial machinery and equipment
- Properly position freight while considering weight distribution and load stability
- Inspect freight for visible damage before and after handling
- Inspect forklift and equipment before operation and report safety or maintenance concerns
- Coordinate with drivers, dispatch, warehouse personnel, and yard staff during loading and unloading
- Assist with general warehouse and yard duties when needed
- Follow all company safety procedures
Required Experience
- Previous professional forklift operating experience
- Experience operating heavy-capacity forklifts; 35,000-lb forklift experience strongly preferred
- Experience loading and unloading steel coils, steel plate, railroad components, machinery, or comparable heavy freight
- Experience loading/unloading flatbed trailers preferred
- Strong understanding of load stability, weight distribution, and safe material handling
- Ability to work safely around trucks, trailers, drivers, and other employees
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in Laredo weather conditions
- Ability to climb on/off equipment throughout the shift
- Comfortable working around heavy industrial freight and active truck traffic
- Must follow all required PPE and safety procedures
Schedule: Full-Time
Pay: From $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 – 45.0 per week
