Safety Coordinator
Location: Milwaukee, WI
Hours: 7:00AM-3:30PM- Days: Monday-Saturday, weekend work and overtime is mandatory.
Position Summary
We are seeking a Safety Coordinator to support a safe, compliant, and efficient work environment within our meat manufacturing facility. This role ensures compliance with OSHA, USDA, FDA, and company standards while driving a strong safety culture through training, hazard prevention, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, USDA guidelines, and company safety policies
- Maintain safety documentation (OSHA logs, incident reports, audit records)
- Conduct routine safety inspections and identify hazards; implement corrective actions
- Lead Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) and support Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
- Investigate incidents, track corrective actions, and support return-to-work programs
- Deliver safety training (PPE, LOTO, forklift safety, HazCom, ergonomics, heat stress)
- Facilitate new hire safety orientation (bilingual English/Spanish preferred)
- Maintain safety programs (emergency response, fire safety, hearing conservation, respiratory protection)
- Ensure inspection and upkeep of safety equipment (eyewash stations, fire extinguishers, first aid kits)
- Support internal/external audits and maintain audit readiness
- Collaborate with HR, Operations, QA, and Maintenance on safety initiatives
- Track safety KPIs and promote accountability across teams
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
- 2+ years of safety experience in manufacturing or food production preferred
- Working knowledge of OSHA standards
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to train and coach employees in a fast-paced environment
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams)
Working Conditions
- Exposure to cold environments, wet floors, loud noise, and production equipment
- Frequent walking on the production floor
- Ability to lift up to 25–50 lbs.
