Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling techniques and equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs, observe health status, and report changes to healthcare professionals in accordance with HIPAA regulations and care plans.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary restrictions and preferences, ensuring safety and adherence to health guidelines.
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed schedules and document all medication administration in compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Support clients with cognitive impairments such as dementia or Alzheimer’s disease through memory care strategies and engagement activities.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks including cleaning, laundry, and organizing personal spaces.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans that address specific needs related to neurodevelopmental disorders, intellectual disabilities, or geriatrics.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working as a caregiver in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication management, and vital signs monitoring.
- Familiarity with specialized care such as Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, hospice support, and memory care.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting and the use of assistive devices like Hoyer lifts safely.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy of patient information.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications in nursing or social work are advantageous.
- Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders is highly preferred.
