Company Overview
Innovative Rehabilitation Systems is a CARF-accredited, community-based brain injury rehabilitation program serving Southeastern Michigan. Our team specializes in helping individuals recovering from traumatic brain injuries and other life-altering injuries rebuild independence through therapy delivered in real-world environments—the home, workplace, and community.
Rather than limiting rehabilitation to a clinic setting, our therapists work directly in the environments where life happens. Using evidence-based rehabilitation principles, our interdisciplinary team helps patients achieve meaningful progress toward greater independence, improved functioning, and enhanced quality of life.
Position Summary
Innovative Rehabilitation Systems is seeking a Licensed Psychotherapist (LLP, TLLP, or LPC) to join our interdisciplinary rehabilitation team providing community-based psychotherapy services for individuals recovering from traumatic brain injuries resulting from automobile and work-related accidents.
In this role, you will work directly with patients in their everyday environments, helping them navigate emotional recovery, changes in identity and relationships, and the psychological impact of life-altering injuries. Our model allows therapists to build meaningful therapeutic relationships while collaborating closely with occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, and other rehabilitation professionals.
Therapists manage a flexible caseload and schedule appointments with patients throughout Southeastern Michigan, providing services both in the community and through telehealth when appropriate.
Responsibilities
Provide individual psychotherapy tailored to the needs of individuals recovering from traumatic brain injury and other life-altering injuries.
Support patients in developing coping strategies and adjusting to changes in identity, family dynamics, and life goals following injury.
Collaborate with an interdisciplinary rehabilitation team to provide coordinated, patient-centered care.
Adapt therapeutic approaches to real-world environments including patients’ homes, workplaces, and community settings.
Monitor patient progress and modify treatment strategies as appropriate.
Educate patients and families on coping strategies, emotional adjustment, and available resources.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of treatment and patient progress.
Requirements
Master’s degree in psychology, counseling, or a related field required.
Michigan licensure as LLP, TLLP, or LPC, or eligibility for licensure.
Strong psychotherapy and counseling skills with a patient-centered approach.
Ability to work independently in community settings while collaborating closely with an interdisciplinary team.
Interest in working with individuals recovering from traumatic brain injuries and other life-altering injuries.
Experience working with neurological populations, trauma, rehabilitation settings, or complex medical conditions preferred but not required.
What Makes This Role Unique
Unlike traditional clinic-based therapy, our clinicians work directly in the environments where life happens—patients’ homes, communities, and workplaces. This allows therapists to see meaningful functional progress and build deeper therapeutic relationships while working as part of a collaborative rehabilitation team.
Compensation
Hourly compensation $30–$40 per hour depending on experience and licensure status.
