Wallace – Custodian
REPORTS TO: Director of Construction
PURPOSE: The Custodian performs a variety of cleaning, sanitizing, and maintenance duties to ensure the building and surrounding areas are clean, safe, and well-maintained. This position is responsible for maintaining cleanliness according to established procedures and schedules, assisting with room setups, and supporting overall facility operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid North Carolina Driver’s License required
- Previous custodial or facility maintenance experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to safely operate custodial equipment used in routine cleaning
- Basic knowledge of safety procedures and proper use of cleaning chemicals
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and supplies up to 50 lbs. as needed
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Clean and sanitize building areas daily and as needed
- Perform general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming
- Clean, disinfect, and maintain restrooms
- Operate custodial equipment such as floor scrubbers and burnishers
- Ensure building entrances and surrounding grounds are cleared of debris daily
- Check fire extinguishers, exit signs, and emergency lighting as part of routine safety
inspections
- Maintain custodial equipment in proper working condition
- Assist with room setups and breakdowns for meetings and events
- Clean and sanitize building areas daily and as needed

- Assist with room setups and breakdowns for meetings and events
- Serve as the assigned custodian for the Maintenance Department, rotating weekly with other
custodial staff
- Assist with special events that are scheduled after-hours if needed
- Perform other related duties as assigned
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 months
