Job Summary
We are looking for a Lumber Grader to work with our teams in both the green and kiln dried receiving yards. The Lumber Grader will be responsible for lumber inspections, production, quality control and vendor reviews.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspecting and grading green lumber in our yard coming in graded and ungraded from local sawmills
- Reviewing lumber quality from each vendor and working with purchasing to improve mill and lumber quality.
- Inspecting and grading Kiln Dried lumber coming in on the dry side.
- Receiving Kiln Dried lumber, doing quality checks for moisture and stress.
- Reviewing lumber quality from Kiln Dried vendors and working with purchasing on vendor reviews and recommendations.
- Maintaining production requirements.
- Coordinate production schedule with the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Experience in hardwood lumber grading with either or both green or kiln dried lumber.
- Understanding NHLA rules and also being able to adapt to propriety grades.
- Able to work both inside and outside in all weather conditions.
- Good people skills
- Ability to stand, walk and grade for 8 - 10 hours a day.
Starting wage is based on experience.
