Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our veterinary practice. The ideal candidate will support veterinarians in providing exceptional animal care, perform technical procedures, and ensure a smooth clinic operation. This role offers an opportunity to work with a diverse range of animals and utilize a broad skill set in veterinary medicine, animal husbandry, and client communication.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures.
- Perform animal restraint and handling.
- Conduct laboratory tests, prepare samples, and interpret results to aid in diagnosis.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments following veterinary protocols.
- Perform animal catheterization, X-ray imaging, and other technical procedures with aseptic technique.
- Monitor anesthesia and vital signs during surgical procedures.
- Maintain accurate medical records and document all treatments and observations.
- Care for animals in kennels or hospital areas, ensuring proper animal husbandry and hygiene standards.
- Educate pet owners on pet care, nutrition, and post-treatment instructions.
- Support pet care routines, and assist with animal physiology assessments as required.
Experience
Candidates should possess veterinary technician experience or related animal care background. Prior kennel experience, laboratory experience, or equine handling is advantageous. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, critical care techniques, and aseptic procedures is essential. Experience with dental terminology, animal catheterization, restraint techniques, X-ray operation, dog handling skills—including training—and pet grooming are highly desirable. A strong foundation in veterinary critical care and familiarity with laboratory diagnostics will enhance your effectiveness in this role. Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour
